Below I've listed both "serious" books and "lighter reading" books, both of which I think are very important! The "serious books" are, for those desiring a good Biblical foundation to build their daily Bible study and Christian life upon (these are non-fiction books that God placed into my life that helped straighten out a lot of misconceptions and erroneous teachings I had been exposed to. The truths in these books have stood the test of time for me as I have not only placed the principles into action for 30 plus years, but I have seen them WORK! These truths grow fruit!). The "lighter reading" books are to primarily help us to apply the truths we already know.

The Words and Works of Jesus Christ
Dwight Pentecost
This book belongs on a list by itself because it is the best (small book) on the entire life of Jesus Christ that I have ever seen. He takes many books written in the last 200 years and gets the juice out for our consumption!)

The Ragamuffin Gospel, Abba's Child, Hearbeat of the Rabbi
Brennan Manning
These three books by Manning are movivational books that draws our hearts to the love, mercy, grace, and forgiveness of Christ. Brennan has been gifted by God to draw you deeper into the loving arms of Jesus!

God Came Near, No Wonder They Call Him the Savior
Max Lucado
These two books are awesome. But, you can say that all books written by Max will make Jesus more real in the life of a real seeker! Max's books are easy reads but all are deep as well and simply get back to the Biblical principle of "the simplicity of Christ."

C.S. Lewis
A MUST-READ for any serious Christian. Deals with foundational truths of Christian faith and will leave a defender of faith more ammunition when dealing with critics of Christ.

The Invisible War
Donald G. Barnhouse
This book was used back in the early 70s to prove to me the reality of angels, evil, Satan and the angelic conflict we ALL are involved in, but just can't see with our physical eyes. Wow! A MUST-READ for any serious student of the Bible and seeker of Jesus!

Most books by Swindoll are powerfully simple works that are always interesting and filled with stories and analogies that motivate us to be more and more like Jesus who dearly loves us! Swindoll does a great job of attacking "religion"!
